Part of Old Orchard's sustainability program involves reducing material waste by streamlining the manufacturing process and the methods by which we receive, handle, and discard our raw materials. To date, Old Orchard has been able to accomplish the following:
In 2006, Old Orchard purchased equipment which allows us to recycle corrugated paperboard, plastic stretch wrap, plastic palleting banding, PET, and HDPE packaging. Through this process, we have been able to reduce landfill waste by nearly 250 tons on an annual basis.
In 2005, the company was able to reduce the weight of its 64oz PET bottle from 81 grams to 66.5 grams, eliminating nearly 1,000 tons of PET resin. The industry average is currently around 75 grams.

Old Orchard has also successfully reduced the weight of its 12 oz plastic can from 28 grams to 23 grams of HDPE, with a target weight of 21 grams by 2009. We have been able to save nearly 500,000 pounds of HDPE plastic, while, unfortunately, our competitors continue to use a 28 gram can.
Additionally, all Old Orchard product packaging is recyclable at most recycling centers throughout the United States.
