Partnership Based on Old Orchard Healthy Balance Fruit Juice Cocktails; Juice Line Works Well in Diabetic Diets.
SPARTA, Mich., September 22, 2005 — Old Orchard Brands today announced a corporate partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. The partnership is based on Old Orchard’s popular line of low-sugar, low-carbohydrate and reduced-calorie Healthy Balance fruit juice cocktails. Old Orchard Healthy Balance juices work well in diabetic diets, which require careful management of blood sugar levels, carbohydrates and calories. Each of the fruit juice cocktails contain 75 percent less sugar, carbohydrates and calories compared to other juice products of the same variety. The four-year partnership between Old Orchard Brands and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) extends through August 2009. The partnership includes more than $260,000 in cash donations from Old Orchard Brands to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. Old Orchard will also donate $300,000, and provide single-serve Healthy Balance juices to support selected state and regional “Walk to Cure Diabetes” events. Conversely, JDRF grants Old Orchard Brands permission to use the JDRF logo on all Old Orchard Brands Healthy Balance packaging and Healthy Balance consumer promotion and advertising. The Old Orchard/JDRF partnership includes all United States markets. “This partnership is a natural fit for both Old Orchard and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation,” said Michael McDonald, vice president of sales and marketing for Old Orchard Brands. “We are thrilled to support JDRF, an organization that makes a tremendous difference in the lives of children living with juvenile diabetes. The partnership also aims to benefit parents of children living with juvenile diabetes by providing them with a nutritious and safe alternative to standard juices that kids love, but shouldn’t drink because of their diabetes.”
